Aussies binge racing through new TV shows

Australians are racing through their favourite new television shows quicker than ever, as they battle out with friends and family to claim bragging rights.

Netflix has coined the phrase ‘binge racing’ for fans who speed through a new season of a show within 24 hours of its release.

Globally, Netflix says over eight million people are binge racing, with Canadians leading the pack ahead of the United States and Denmark.

Australia ranks eighth for binge racing from 190 countries studied, flying through series like the Gilmore Girls reboot, and Marvel’s The Defenders.

“There’s a unique satisfaction that comes from being the first to finish a story – whether it’s the final page of a book or the last, climactic moments of your favourite TV show,” said Netflix’s Brian Wright.

Viewers in the Australian Capital Territory were the most active binge racers, ahead of Queensland and Tasmania.
