Adele’s new album 25 has said hello to the charts in a big way on Friday by going double platinum over the weekend.

A double platinum certification means the english singer’s new album sold more than 140,000 copies in just 72 hours.

The grammy-award winner’s most recent single Hello also remains atop of the ARIA music charts for a third week in a row.

In the US, a record 2.3 million copies of 25 was sold in the first three days of its release.

25 racked up more than 900,000 sales in Apple’s US iTunes store on its first day, according to Billboard.

The monster US sales mean Adele is well on track to smash the first week sales record currently held by boy band NSync’s 2000 album No Strings Attached, which opened with 2.4 million copies.

Adele’s independent UK label XL Recordings last week decided to withhold 25 from online streaming platforms such as Apple Inc’s Apple Music service, privately owned Spotify and Google Play.

The strong global sales indicate the lack of streaming availability did not hurt the album, which was released on Friday, her first album since 2011’s 21, which won six Grammys and sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.
