Murray Cod fingerlings will be released into South Australia’s River Murray for the first time in an effort to revitalise the population of the iconic species.
Fisheries Minister Leon Bignell says 100,000 fingerlings will be released in the coming weeks in a state-first trial that could boost the River Murray’s tourism and economy.
Fishing for Murray Cod has been restricted since 2008.
